Andrew is a key member of the team and has been working with PRT Industries for almost two years. He lives on a small hobby farm outside Fernvale with his wife, Jo and two young girls, Pepper and Fiora, plus horses, chickens, dogs…..
Earlier this year Fiora was struck down with a mystery illness. She was suffering from high fevers, rashes, swollen joints that were too painful to touch and she was unable to walk. Andrew and Jo called for an ambulance who were first thinking meningococcal. Fortunately, this proved negative.
After a barrage of tests over a three-week period and a move from the Ipswich Hospital to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, she was finally diagnosed with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA). She was in hospital for three weeks with a further two weeks unable to walk waiting on approval to start treatment. It was a huge stress on the family with lots of sleepless nights and worrying about what the future would bring.
Andrew talks about the wonderful staff at the hospital and the work of the Starlight Foundation, helping them to endure the tough journey.
With the help of Andrew and Jo and the healthcare community, Fiora is on the road to remission (hopefully).
Vince and all the team at PRT Industries would like to thank the community for their ongoing support, and in the lead up to Christmas invite you all to make a donation to the Starlight Foundation. https://starlight.org.au/
